The Judicial Inquiry Commission has considered your request for an opinion regarding
whether or not your presiding as judge in certain cases might constitute a breach or
violation of the Canons of Judicial Ethics. In your request you state that these cases
arise out of an automobile accident occurring while you were serving as District
Attorney of the First Judicial Circuit, prior to your assuming your present office of Circuit
Judge of the same circuit. You further state that the driver of a vehicle involved in the
accident is a party in various lawsuits arising out of the accident and which lawsuits are
presently pending in your court.
